Now Open: Disney's Art of Animation Resort

Just this week, Walt Disney World Resort opened the doors to its newest Resort hotel – Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, a property consisting primarily of family suites that immerse guests into the magical worlds of classic Disney and Disney•Pixar films. The Finding Nemo wing of the Resort opened May 31; the Cars wing will open June 18, and The Lion King wing will open Aug. 10. The rooms at The Little Mermaid wing will open on Sept. 15.

Now open and welcoming guests, Disney's Art of Animation Resort at Walt Disney World Resort invites you to become a part of your favorite animated films. Guests are immersed in the artistry and enchantment of Walt Disney and Disney•Pixar classics through imaginative design and themed rooms.

Choose from a variety of amusements, including a video arcade, playgrounds and interactive water play areas that the little ones will love.

With 1,120 suites designed after Finding Nemo, Cars and The Lion King, and 864 rooms inspired by The Little Mermaid, you'll feel like you're staying in the middle of a Disney story with all of your favorite characters.

Spacious family suites are designed to comfortably accommodate up to 6 Guests and include:
- 2 separate bathrooms
- A master bedroom
- 3 separate sleeping areas within the living space, which includes a generously sized dining or work table that easily transforms into a comfortable bed.

One of the Cars themed suites. This table folds away to make room for a pull down murphy style bed.

Lots of room for the family in this Cars themed suite.

The Little Mermaid rooms at Disney's Art of Animation Resort are standard rooms with two double beds.
Lots of room in the Nemo suites.

I love this. The dad is putting his son to bed, and Marlin is putting Nemo to bed in the pic above the bed.

Check out this fun light fixture, which includes pencil sketches of “The Little Mermaid,” “The Lion King,” and more. If you visit, be sure to search for the John Lasseter signature on one of the “Cars” sketches.

Starting at Animation Hall, the resort’s lobby boasts decor that reflects animation in various stages, from pencil sketch to final product.

Here is the Ink & Paint Shop, which leads into entrance to the Landscape of Flavors food court.

Guests are swept into the story of “Finding Nemo,” and are reduced to the size of a fish at The Big Blue Pool. Here, they can splash alongside Nemo, Crush, the jellyfish, and other ocean friends. Walt Disney Imagineering really thought of everything in planning this under-the-sea adventure – they even have audio from the film piped into the pool that Guests can hear when they’re under the water. Just steps from your suite, the Finding Nemo courtyard offers an array of ways for you and your loved ones to relax and unwind. Discover even more movie-inspired amenities, including:

• The Big Blue Pool—the largest of the pools at Disney's Art of Animation Resort

This video shows the underwater audio in The Big Blue Pool.

• The Drop Off—A poolside bar

 • The Schoolyard at Squirt's Righteous Reef Playground,  a water play area for the little ones

• 3 grand icons that help tell the story of the film: Mr. Ray, Crush and a sea anemone with Marlin and Nemo

I think this one is my favorite. The icons are built to scale such that the guest is supposed to be the size of Nemo, compared to the other characters. I can't wait to have a picture made of my family standing under Mr. Ray, like his class does in the movie.
