Entertainment Highlights (subject to change without notice):
Ongoing Holiday celebrations throughout the World Showcase featuring festive food, fun and entertainment from a variety of exciting cultures worldwide include:
Candlelight Processional:
(World Showcase, America Gardens Theatre) - 5 p.m., 6:45 p.m. & 8:15 p.m.
One of the most beloved holiday traditions at Epcot is the Candlelight Processional - a joyous retelling of the Christmas story by a celebrity narrator accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra and a glorious mass choir.
I know Disney invites celebrities they have a relationship with who have excellent voices, and are gifted speakers, but it's just funny to think of them in their showbiz roles, and then think of the reading the Christmas story. Here's hoping that each of them will hear the message of hope and truth in the Christmas story.
Here is a sample of narrators for this year:
Nov. 23–25: Isabella Rossellini – (film/TV star and wildlife conversationalist)
This is the celebrity person that was on Ross's "list" on Friends.
Nov. 26–29: Neil Patrick Harris – (Emmy Award-winner, Broadway star and TV host)
Whatever else this guy does, he's still Doogie Howser to me.
Nov. 30–Dec. 1: Whoopi Goldberg – (television host, actress and comedian)
Dec. 11–13: Jodi Benson – (singer and actress)
Voice of the Little Mermaid. Imagine her singing the bit where she gives Ursula her voice, then she starts reading Luke 2.
Dec. 14–16: Olivia Newton John (singer and actress)
Have we confirmed there will be no terrycloth headband worn that night? All kidding aside, hearing the Christmas story in accents from all over the world, in Epcot, will certainly be moving. But, if we are looking for an Aussie, might I make a suggestion?
Dec. 20–22: Trace Adkins – (Award-Winning Country music artist)
Dec. 23–25: Gary Sinise – (actor and musician)
If we can't get Forrest Gump to read the Christmas story, Lt. Dan will work.
Dec. 29–30: Marlee Matlin (Academy Award-winning actor and TV star)
Might have to retract my earlier comment about Trace being my pick. Since Marlee is deaf, I imagine she will sign the story, and have it interpreted. That would be special.
